1 Peter 5 – Hold On To Your Faith, Even During Persecution.

Written on the On Feast of Unleavened Bread:

Even in Tribulation, Hold on To Your Faith, Be Conformed into the Image of YAHUSHUA the Messiah.

The final chapter of First Peter, final encouragements to the Body of Christ, all of which where suffering persecution. As a mature lamb in Christ YAHUSHUA, Peter first encourages the Elders of the Church as an Elder himself – He reminds us that Christ suffered and entered into His glory, so shall all who follow Him suffer and enter into glory. “A witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:” Says the Apostle Peter.

Those ordained into leadership position in the Church are to feed and lead sheep and lambs willingly and whoheartedly. Such leaders, Teachers, Pastors and Apostles are not to rule as lords, demanding and imposing, but as servants. Serving, encouraging, feeding, and illustrating the perfect example of Christ YAHUSHUA. Verse 3.

For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 2 Thessalonians 3:7-10.

The Chief Shepard is YAHUSHUA, as he said in John 10:11, “I am the Good Shepard…”. Those who are ordained and appointed to watch over the sheep are to do so faithfully, for they will obtain a Crown of Glory from the Lord. This is the appointment unto the Elders.

1 – The young are to submit themselves unto the Elders. For their wisdom, knowledge, and experience are far vast than that of the young Believers. Be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Verse 5. YAHUVEH is the potter, we are the clay. Only after complete submission to Him, allowing Him to mold and shape us according to His will will He exalt and glorify His servants. When we get that right we may also cast all our burdens unto him, for if we walk in His will then our burdens are truly His, for it is He who directs us.

To All who belong to the Body of YAHUSHUA: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. Verse 8-9.

We resist the devil with our unyielding Faith in YAHUVEH’s Word – Faith in His Son YAHUSHUA. These afflictions are being ‘accomplished,’ meaning that they are necessary to fulfill a certain purpose – to strengthen our faith.

Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 1 Peter 2:6

We read the same parallel in Ephesians 6:10-11: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Strong in the Lord, and in the Power of His Might. We must understand that The Word of God is Powerful to the pulling down of strongholds. When we wield it as sword we are capable of sending thousands to flight.

YAHUSHUA resisted the devil through the Word of Almighty God YAHUVEH. He not only quoted scripture but He believed in His Father’s Word.

YAHUSHUA is the Word of God as plainly stated in John 1:1. Believing in YAHUVEH’s only begotten Son, is believing in YAHUVEH Himself, for they are One. For this cause just as YAHUSHUA resisted the devil through the Word of GOD, we resist the devil through our Faith which is in the Word of GOD – the shield of Faith as described in Ephesians 6:16 with which we extinguish all fiery darts of the enemy.

Wherefore, when in tribulation, in affliction, our refuge is in YAHUSHUA, the Word of God. Man will fail us, the ground will shake, but those who are planted in The Lord cannot be moved, for the Word of GOD is from everlasting to everlasting.

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:10-11.

Amen – End of 1 Peter.
